About Us
Passion and purpose
As a minority owned business we know what it’s like to not have a voice. The good news is, the world is changing - and we can all play a part in making a positive difference.
We founded Diversity Media Sales out of a shared desire to build on years of success in the advertising industry, whilst making a tangible difference in the lives of diverse and marginalised communities by playing a part in changing the landscape of inclusion.
Imagine living in a world where you hardly, if ever, see yourself authentically reflected in popular media. Things are changing, but this experience is still true for many people.
Sam, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Diversity Media Sales, grew up as a gay man in a world where his identity wasn’t celebrated - in the media, or in the world around him. As part of the LGBTQ+ community Sam has first-hand experience of the detrimental impact this lack of representation can have.
Ash Newman, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Diversity Media Sales, has worked with socially deprived, challenged and marginalised communities for 20+ years, seeing the difference that opportunity and open doors can make to these communities. He knows first hand the power of creating opportunities for people in the media industry. Co-founding Off The Ropes, his passion has been to see lives changed through mentoring and by creating opportunities for individuals to enter professions they might otherwise be unable to access.
So imagine instead a world where you see people who look and live like you, depicted on platforms and in ways that say ‘you have a place; you belong; you get to have a voice and play a valuable part in the world’. This is the landscape Diversity Media Sales is helping to reshape, throughout our business and with all of our partners, using the powerful medium of advertising on burgeoning CTV-first platforms.
In the world we’re helping to create, everyone belongs. Every voice matters.
Champions initiative
Through the Champions Initiative we actively work to open doors within the media industry for individuals who for a variety of reasons would otherwise struggle to gain access.
With internship, mentoring and employment placements, individuals have the opportunity to develop valuable skills, experience and networks within the world of media. Building on previous life experience and passion is at the heart of the Champions Initiative, helping to grow engaged, skilled and passionate members of the media community.
We’re starting small, but already the Champions Initiative is helping to change the landscape of equality and diversity in the media industry. Witnessing first-hand the impact an opportunity can have on an individual and their community gives perspective and purpose to everything we do.
