Diversity Media Sales become the first SME in UK media to receive ESG Business Impact Score

We are thrilled to be the first SME in the UK media industry to receive an official Business Impact Score from Zerobees.

ZeroBees is the leading UK sustainability data and consulting firm whose mission is to “accelerate sustainability and decarbonisation across SMEs and value chains”.

We are striving to become one of the leading lights in the ESG arena. By being one of the first SMEs to offer ZeroBees the opportunity to ‘audit’ our business, assess current position and set improvement goals for the near future, we believe it puts us on the right path to do just that.

Although it isn't required for SMEs to provide data in these areas like their corporate counterparts, we take a proactive approach to transparency, measurement and improvement to compete against the bigger corporations, whilst also encouraging other SMEs to begin their journey.

Toby Radcliffe, co-founder of Zerobees, says: “We are thrilled to see Diversity Media Sales leading by example as the first SME media company to undergo formal verification through the Business Impact Tracker. Their commitment to their sustainability journey and inclusivity sets a new standard for the industry, and we are proud to support them on their journey towards greater environmental and social impact

Our strongly held morals and charitable positioning shone through in this process, earning us a BIT (Business Impact Tracker) score that was 26% higher than the SME media benchmark.

Our highest scores came in the Employee and Community sectors where our approach to championing underrepresented communities in our employment strategy was commended.

These morals and values have been at the core of our business and rooted in our DNA from our inception, a mere 5 years ago in 2019. To be recognised and applauded for our ethos and the work we do day to day is something we are very proud of and will continue to build upon. We fully understand that improving ESG scores is a journey and will persist in improving our performance in the Environment and Governance sector over the next 12 months and beyond.
Sam Parry, co-founder and Managing Partner at DMS, says: “At DMS we have always taken a regenerative approach to the historic lack of investment in underserved communities. Whilst we have had incredible support for the work which we do across the media industry, we understand the importance of a tangible and measured understanding of that work, which is why we were so keen to be at the forefront of this opportunity with Legacy Media and Zerobees.”

Andy Power, founder of Legacy Media, says: “Legacy is delighted to see SMEs committing to ESG scoring, with Diversity Media Sales being the first of many. Access to both corporate and SME ratings is enabling greater media coverage; providing the wider lens for brands and their agencies to divest budgets from poorly rated ESG businesses and support those companies, like DMS, focused on real societal change. Congratulations and here’s to the others following in your footsteps.”

Diversity Media Sales ESG scores are now published and fully available on the Legacy Media ESG data platform, used by a majority of UK media agencies to ESG score supply partners.
